Queen of Hearts (aka Queenie) here and while I must admit that my name may make you think I'm not fond of those who disagree with me, let me assure I am all about love! You see in my short 2.5 years I was left to fend for myself and my 11 (yes, you heard that right) puppies underneath an abandoned house. And you will have to forgive me for a minute as I toot my own horn here because I was very proud of what I did! I am a very smart girl and when help came calling I knew it was time to take that leap of faith. Since then I've known kindness with my foster.
Since my pups have been adopted, my foster mom and I have polished my skills. Not only have I gained nearly 30 lbs, but I've since learned sit, come, kennel, touch and my name, Queenie. I am also crate and house trained. I am very treat motivated so I am sure that I will be able to learn all kinds of new things. I do have one secret....I prefer to dine alone; the company of others during meals makes me very uncomfortable, BUT you will be happy to know I am now able to eat treats (Zuke bones are so good!) with my foster brothers and sisters.
I walk well with a harness but am not a huge fan of the car. Perhaps one of the best things I have learned is that I do not need to run away. That fear did lend its way to some impressive climbing skills and I'm quite the puzzle solver; however, this need has all but dissipated. Here are a few other tidbits for you about me...I only bark to alert, am quite calm in the house and like to snooze on the couch, I do not like to be corned or grabbed unexpectedly. I'm great with dogs of all sizes, cats and I would be ok with older children, too. One of my most favorite things to do is sunbathing outside or chasing around my doggy friends!
Please, if you think I'm a good fit for your pack, consider putting in an adoption application for me today!
