Napoleon - English Mastiff - PERMANENT FOSTER

Napoleon(aka Bourque) is a handsome, 2.5 year old, Fawn, English Mastiff. He weighs 150 lbs currently and is just about the sweetest boy you can imagine! He is loving, affectionate, and truly devoted to his humans. Bourque is leery of men initially, but he does warm up with time and treats. He is good with other dogs and is house trained, crate trained, dog door trained and not destructive. The poor guy was dumped at a shelter by his owners because they could not afford to take care of him. He came to us with several orthopedic issues and could hardly get up when he arrived. The primary issue was bilateral ruptured anterior cruciate ligaments. Bourque underwent knee repair surgery on 7/28/10 & 12/2/10 and is ready to go to the right forever home willing to love him for who he is. He will always be a little bit of a cripple and does need daily pain meds to keep his arthritis at bay, but his quality of life is greatly improved and he still enjoys short walks around the neighborhood and hopefully has many great years ahead of him. He makes an excellent cuddler and is very protective of his home and family, but, due to his protective instincts, he will need a new owner who is a strong leader and committed to managing the environment whenever someone new comes over. Bourque would do best in a home with no young kids or cats. He's a truly special guy who deserves an amazing forever home!

Due to the combination of his physical handicaps limiting his longevity, the high cost of his medications, and his behavioral issues, we have decided to make Bourque a permanent foster in our program. He will live out the rest of his days with his foster mom, Dr. Winton!
